What does the Bible say About Faith:
Bible Verses on Faith
Faith Is:
Hebrews 11:1
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not
seen.
Faith is Confidence:
According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our
Lord: In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of
him. Wherefore I desire that ye faint not at my tribulations for
you, which is your glory (Ephesians 3:11-13).
Faith is Joy:
And having this confidence, I know that I shall abide and continue
with you all for your furtherance and joy of faith (Philippians 1:25).
Faith is Exclusive:
Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ:
that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your
affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together
for the faith of the gospel (Philippians 1:27).
One Lord, one faith, one baptism (Ephesians 4:5).
Faith is our Shield:
Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to
quench all the fiery darts of the wicked (Ephesians 6:16).
Faith is our Breastplate:
But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of
faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation (1 Thessalonians
5:8).
Faith is a Labor of Love:
He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me:
and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him,
and will manifest myself to him (John 14:21). Remembering without
ceasing your work of faith, and labour of love, and
patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of God and our
Father (1 Thessalonians 1:3).
Faith is service:
Yea, and if I be offered upon the sacrifice and service of your faith, I
joy, and rejoice with you all (Philippians 2:17).
Faith is a Sacrifice:
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present
your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your
reasonable service (Romans 12:1).
Yea, and if I be offered upon the sacrifice and service of your faith, I
joy, and rejoice with you all (Philippians 2:17).
Faith is Conviction:
Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong (1 Corinthians 16:13).
Faith is Perseverance:
If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not
moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was
preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a
minister (Colossians 1:23).
Therefore, brethren, we were comforted over you in all our affliction and
distress by your faith: For now we live, if ye stand fast in the Lord (1
Thessalonians 3:7-8).
Faith is a Walk:
For we walk by faith, not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7). For we are
his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath
before ordained that we should walk in them (Ephesians 2:10). As ye
have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him
(Colossians 2:6).
Faith is a Work:
Remembering without ceasing your work of faith , and labour of love, and
patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of God and our
Father (1 Thessalonians 1:3). Wherefore also we pray always for you,
that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil all the
good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power (2 Thessalonians 1:11).
Faith is a Fight:
Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life,
to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in
the presence of many witnesses (1 Timothy 6:12)
Faith is Law:
Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay:
but by the law of faith (Romans 3:27).
Faith is Hope:
For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith
(Galatians 5:5).
Faith is Patient:
That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and
patience inherit the promises (Hebrews 6:12).
Faith is Pleasing to God:
But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God
must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek
him (Hebrews 11:6).
Faith without works is dead:
But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? (James
2:20).
Faith is made perfect with works:
Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made
perfect? (James 2:22).
Faith is to be Contended For:
Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it
was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly
contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints (Jude 3).
Faith is how we are justified:
Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord
Jesus Christ (Romans 5:1).
But not by Faith Only:
Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only (James
2:24).
Faith is our salvation:
Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls (1
Peter 1:9).
Faith is everything written of by the
inspired teachers.
Romans 4:16
Therefore it is of faith , that it might be by grace; to the end the
promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the
law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father
of us all.
