Children are a gift from God, a heritage from the Lord. (Psalm
127 )
“Unless the Lord builds the house, They labor in vain who build it; Unless
the Lord guards the city, The watchman stays awake in vain. It is vain for
you to rise up early, To sit up late, To eat the bread of sorrows; For so He
gives His beloved sleep. Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, The
fruit of the womb is a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, So are
the children of one’s youth. Happy is the man who has his quiver full of
them; They shall not be ashamed, But shall speak with their enemies in the
gate.”
NKJV
Parents have an awesome responsibility to bring them up in the
“training and admonition of the Lord.”
(Ephesians
6)
(Ephesians
6:4)
“And you fathers, so not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up
in the training and admonition of the Lord.” NKJV
Moses, before the nation of Israel entered the Promised Land, exhorted
parents as follows: (Deuteronomy
6:4-9)
“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one! You shall love the
Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your
strength. And these words which I command you today shall be in your
heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of
them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie
down, and when you rise up. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and
they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the
doorposts of your house and on your gates.” NKJV

It is
hard to believe that anyone would even think that babies are born as
sinners. Yet many Protestants and Catholics believe this. They say that
babies are born with a sinful nature and blackened with original sin. Does
the Bible, the Word of God, actually teach this?
I.
King David
and His Infant Son
II.
The Sin of Adam
III.
Psalm 51 and
Original Sin
Conclusion:
Are
children born sinners? The Bible says no. Do babies inherit a sinful
nature? Scripture again says no. Are infants guilty of Adam’s sin? Once
again, God’s Word says no. Babies are born pure and innocent, free of
any and all sin. They are not old enough to understand the difference
between right and wrong so they cannot commit sin and are therefore safe.

Matt 11:28-29
"Come unto me, all ye
that labour and are
heavy laden, and I will
give you rest. Take my
yoke upon you, and learn
of me; for I am meek and
lowly in heart: and ye
shall find rest unto
your souls." |
