Let the Beauty of Jesus Be Seen
in Me
A Sermon based on
the Hymn by W.H. Jerkins
Introduction:
This gentle and convicting hymn calls each Christian to reflect Christ’s
character in daily life. More than outward appearance, it speaks to the
inward transformation of the heart. As disciples, we are to be conformed
to the image of Christ (Romans 8:29). “Let the Beauty of Jesus Be Seen
in Me” is a prayer of humility, service, love, and light—a call to be
living examples of Jesus in a dark and broken world.
Stanza 1: “Let
the beauty of Jesus be seen in me, all His wonderful passion and
purity…”
This opening line reminds us that Jesus’ beauty is not physical, but
spiritual. His compassion, holiness, patience, and love defined His life
(1 Peter 2:22). When others look at us, do they see those same
qualities? Paul writes in Galatians 2:20, “It is no longer I who live,
but Christ lives in me.” The goal is not simply to admire Christ but to
imitate Him.
Stanza 2: “When
somebody has been so unkind to you, some word spoken that pierces you
through…”
Christ’s beauty is most visible when we respond with grace instead of
retaliation. Jesus endured insults and injury without sinning (1 Peter
2:23). The Christian must resist bitterness and instead respond with
love, forgiveness, and mercy (Matthew 5:44). These moments test our
sincerity and shape our witness.
Stanza 3: “From
the dawn of the morning to close of day, in example, in deeds, and in
all you say…”
Discipleship is not confined to Sunday—it is a daily walk. From sunrise
to sunset, our actions, words, and attitudes should reflect Jesus.
Colossians 3:17 urges, “Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the
name of the Lord Jesus.” The beauty of Jesus must be consistent and
visible in every area of life.

Does the world see Christ in you? The beauty of Jesus is revealed
through your words, your choices, your reactions, and your love. Let His
light shine through you, beginning today. If you haven’t begun your walk
with Him, obey His gospel: believe (Mark 16:16), repent (Acts 2:38),
confess (Romans 10:10), and be baptized into Christ (Galatians 3:27).
Then live each day reflecting His beauty to a lost world.
