Will Everyone Go to Heaven?
The
answer to this question is of supreme importance. We can’t afford
to be wrong! People’s eternal destinies are at stake. Our answer
must be based solely upon the only infallible guide, the Word of
God.
I.
Universalism
-
This
teaching essentially says that God will save everyone in the
end; if not in this life, then in the next. In other words,
people will be given second chances. What verse is this based
upon?
-
Philippians 2:9-11
Without reading any other verses in Philippians, one might
conclude all will be saved. But notice Philippians
3:18-19. For many, it will be too late.
-
I
Corinthians 15:22
But the very next verse describes who the “all” are, those who
belong to Christ, Christians.
-
I
Timothy 2:4
God desires that all people be saved.
II Peter 3:9
But He has given people the ability to choose. He doesn’t force
anyone to do as He desires.
II.
What About Second Chances?
Not a single passage even hints there will be second chances.
-
Luke 13:22-28
-
Matthew 8:11-12
-
Matthew 25:31-32, 41, 46
“eternal”
-
Hebrews 9:27
-
Revelation 21:22, 27,
Revelation 22:14-15
There is a very distinct difference between those inside and
those out. Notice the phrase: “will never enter it”
-
Revelation 20:11-15,
Revelation 22:8
The lake of fire is for punishment. It is certainly not to give
people a second chance.
Will
everyone go to heaven? The Bible says “no.” Many will be denied
entrance because of the choices they made on earth. But once death
overtakes them, all opportunities are gone. What a very sobering
thought!
