Christ Our Passover
Jesus is the central
figure in the Bible, especially in the Passover. Many principles in the
Passover point to Christ.

The Kingdom Of
God
Our savior used the
word Kingdom over 75 times, as recorded in the New Testament. He
sometimes called it the Kingdom of Heaven, and sometimes he called it
the Kingdom of God. Note how they are used interchangeably in Matthew 4:
17 and Mark 1: 14-15. Kingdom refers to God's kingship or rule from
heaven. Often, in the Old Testament, this idea of God's domain and rule
is his rule over the entire world.
He sits upon a throne,
Psalm 103: 19. The host of heaven surrounds him, 1 Kings 22: 19, and He
appoints rulers in the world, Daniel 2: 37, 4: 17. He is the king of the
entire world, 1 Chronicles 29: 11, and his rule is everlasting, Psalms
145: 13.
However, the Old
Testament speaks much about a Kingdom being established in the future.
Note Daniel 2: 44, these kings—the Roman kings—and Daniel 7: 13-14. This
kingdom did not exist yet, yet God promised it would one day. |

The
Power Of The Gospel The
apostle Paul writes a very personal and persuasive letter to his beloved
friend Philemon. The subject of this letter is an extremely delicate
one: slavery. This letter is a wonderful example of “speaking the truth
in love” (Ephesians 4: 15). It is a letter of courtesy, warmth,
and politeness, but its message is weighty and its persuasion is
powerful. The keyword is “receive.”
The gospel of Jesus Christ has the
power to change People

Removing The
Landmarks Beginning with the latter part of
chapter 4 and continuing throughout the remainder of the book, Hosea
often uses Ephraim as the designation for Israel, the northern Kingdom.
Ephraim was the second son of Joseph- Manassa being first, Genesis 41.
But when Joseph's father Jacob blessed his two grandsons, Ephraim
received the greater blessing. From the time of the exodus, Ephraim
became one of the leading tribes. Possibly because Joshua, Moses'
successor, was from Ephraim. In the land of Canaan, the tribe of Ephraim
was given land in the central region- including Bethel, Shiloh, and
Shechem. When the Kingdom became divided after the days of Solomon,
Ephraim went with nine other tribes and formed the northern Kingdom.
They appointed Jeroboam, a man from Ephraim, as their king. Thus began
Ephraim’s influence in the northern Kingdom. |

What Are We Saved By?
A man and woman were eating dinner
at home. Suddenly man clutches chest. He was having a heart
attack. The woman calls 911. The EMT arrive in an ambulance. They use
defibrillators and start the man's heart beating again. Question- what
saved the man? His wife, telephone, ambulance, EMT, the
defibrillator? Which one could be left out and the man still be
saved? So what saved the man? They all did! So it is with
man's spiritual salvation. It's impossible to say man is saved
exclusively by one thing only. Many things are involved and necessary
for one to be saved. |

When
Life Gets Overwhelming
During our journey here on earth,
times may become hard and discouraging. While these days are inevitable,
we should not lose hope but look to God's word for hope. The Psalms in
particular can lift us up when life becomes overwhelming. |

The Names Of God
Names Of God Part 3
Recall that Yahweh is the personal
name of God. It means to be, or exist. Recall what he said to Moses in
the burning Bush. I am that i am, exodus 3: 14, the eternal one –
uncaused, John 8: 54-58.
This is the name used when God is
making a covenant- Noah, Abraham, moses.
The name Yahweh. Each reveals
something special about Jehovah. |

Christian’s Aspirations
Introduction: what do you
aspire to? What is your ambition in life? What do you want to
accomplish? The Holy Spirit instructs Christians to focus their
ambitions on a certain direction, 1 very different than the world's.

Sinners In The Hands Of An Angry God
Introduction: I was first introduced to
this sermon by Jonathan Edwards in college. Edwards would later become
president of Princeton University. This powerful sermon struck fear in
the hearts of its listeners when delivered in 1741. There are several
lessons from this sermon which are biblically relevant for us to hear.

The Assembling Of The Saints
Introduction: There is a
growing belief among those who claim Christ as Savior that the
assembling of the saints is unnecessary. The American culture at large
has slowly come to the place of believing that a person can be a
Christian without regularly gathering together with other believers in
worship and fellowship. This is just not the case. The Christian faith
is an assembling faith. The very word church in the Greek is “Ekklesia”
which, in the ancient Greek, denoted a group called out to come to the
assembly. Assembly is in the word Ekklesia.
It is claimed by some that new
testament Christians did not assemble for worship, therefore it is not a
requirement today. |

Sermon On The Mount
Matthew 5:33-37 Jesus
Forbids Oaths 33 "Again you have heard that it was said to those of
old, 'You shall not swear falsely, but shall perform your oaths to the
Lord.' 34 But I say to you, do not swear at all: neither by heaven, for
it is God's throne; 35 nor by the earth, for it is His footstool; nor by
Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King. 36 Nor shall you swear
by your head, because you cannot make one hair white or black. 37 But
let your 'Yes' be 'Yes,' and your 'No,' 'No.' For whatever is more than
these is from the evil one. |

Sermon On The Mount
Go the Second Mile 38 "You have heard that it was said, 'An eye for
an eye and a tooth for a tooth.' 39 But I tell you not to resist an evil
person. But whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him
also. 40 If anyone wants to sue you and take away your tunic, let him
have your cloak also. 41 And whoever compels you to go one mile, go with
him two. 42 Give to him who asks you, and from him who wants to borrow
from you do not turn away. |

Sermon On The Mount
Matthew 5:43-48 Love Your Enemies 43 "You have heard that it was
said, 'You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' 44 But I say
to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those
who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute
you, 45 that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His
sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on
the unjust. 46 For if you love those who love you, what reward have you?
Do not even the tax collectors do the same? 47 And if you greet your
brethren only, what do you do more than others? Do not even the tax
collectors do so? 48 Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father
in heaven is perfect. |

Sermon On The Mount
Matthew 6:1-4 Do Good to Please God 6 "Take heed that you do not
do your charitable deeds before men, to be seen by them. Otherwise you
have no reward from your Father in heaven. 2 Therefore, when you do a
charitable deed, do not sound a trumpet before you as the hypocrites do
in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory from men.
Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. 3 But when you do a
charitable deed, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is
doing, 4 that your charitable deed may be in secret; and your Father who
sees in secret will Himself reward you openly. |

Sermon On The Mount
Matthew 6:25-34 Do Not Worry 25 "Therefore I say to you, do not
worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor
about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and
the body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds of the air, for they
neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father
feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? 27 Which of you by
worrying can add one cubit to his stature? |

Sermon On The Mount
Matthew 7:1-6 Do Not Judge 7 "Judge not, that you be not judged. 2
For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the
measure you use, it will be measured back to you. 3 And why do you look
at the speck in your brother's eye, but do not consider the plank in
your own eye? 4 Or how can you say to your brother, 'Let me remove the
speck from your eye'; and look, a plank is in your own eye? 5 Hypocrite!
First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly
to remove the speck from your brother's eye. |

Sermon On The Mount
Matthew 7:7-12 Keep Asking, Seeking, Knocking 7 "Ask, and it will
be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened
to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to
him who knocks it will be opened. 9 Or what man is there among you who,
if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a
fish, will he give him a serpent? |

Remember To Pray
Prayer is simply talking to God, Psalm 55:
16-17. Prayer is a very natural part of our existence. Our
heavenly father loves to hear our voices. We are encouraged to make our
requests known to God the Philippians 4:6; To pour out our heart before
him Psalm 62: 8. We need to honor him by learning to speak to him
according to how he has instructed us in this World - to learn the
principles of prayer from scripture. |

All
Men To Be Saved
Christ
purchased the church with his blood and he wants it to carry out his will on
earth, 1 Timothy 2: 4. God has given us this responsibility and we must
take it seriously.
This was
originally commissioned to his apostles and then to the whole church,
Matthew 28: 18-20. The primary emphasis is on the command to ”make
disciples”. This disciple making begins by being baptized. Then disciples
are be taught to “observe all things that I have commanded you.” Jesus
wants his disciples to go and seek out others for discipleship. These new
disciples are to come from “all nations". See mark 16: 15. What will help
us to fulfill our responsibility? |

Work Out Your Own Salvation Philippians 2:12-13
Many in the religious world
do not believe that works and salvation should be mentioned in the same
sentence. Yet the apostle Paul does that very thing in our text -
Philippians 2:12-13, “Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed,
not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your
own salvation with fear and trembling; 13 for it is God who works in you
both to will and to do for His good pleasure.” So what does God want us
to learn from this passage? |

All Your Commands Are Truth
James 2:10-12 The readers of James's letter
had formerly been followers of the law of Moses. After their conversion to
Christianity, they were forced to leave Jerusalem due to persecution. Some
were starting to forget the importance of observing all the commands of the
royal law. James stresses in our text that every commandment is essential
and not to be forgotten or disregarded. |

The
Vineyard Of The Lord Text:
Isaiah 5 Vineyards were of great importance in
biblical times period a song was written about vineyards during the days of
Isaiah. It is recorded in the 5th chapter. Verses one and two describes how
everything possible had been done to the vineyard to make sure it would
produce the best possible fruit. But it only produced wild grapes. Not only
worthless, but noxious and offensive, possibly even poisonous. |

Today is the father of tomorrow. What we are today is the result of what we
have been thinking and the way we have lived in the past. The nation of
Israel had to learn this in a very personal way, Judges 2: 1-4. They failed
to follow God's instructions and suffered the consequences. The Lord gives
principles in scripture which serve as both warnings and encouragements,

Word of God
Nothing More, Nothing Less, Nothing Else
God chose to reveal His will to mankind and
His Word is recorded for us in scripture. Contained within
God’s Word are numerous statements that help us to learn about
it. God’s Word establishes itself as being complete, preserved
and authoritative in our Christian lives. The purpose of this
lesson is to examine what God’s Word teaches about itself so we
can have faith and confidence in it as our guide for living on
earth and our instructions for getting home to live with our God
